Grandparents Day Celebration at Mount Kembla Public School

October 2025

We recently had the joy of hosting our annual Grandparents Day celebration at Mount Kembla Public School. It was a wonderful occasion where students and their grandparents came together to share special moments, stories, and fun activities.

This day was dedicated to honouring the important role grandparents play in our students’ lives and celebrating the strong bonds of family and community that support them. The smiles, laughter, and connections made throughout the day truly highlighted the warmth and spirit of our school community.

Thank you to all the grandparents who joined us and made the day so memorable. We look forward to welcoming you back next year for another fantastic celebration!

Technology

October 2025

Students had the exciting opportunity to test a new Wildlife Education App developed in partnership with Symbio Wildlife Park.

Our students were especially fortunate to be selected to participate in the trial of this innovative app.

This event marks a significant milestone in a three-year collaboration dedicated to creating a cutting-edge educational tool. Using augmented reality, the app invites students on an interactive quest around their playground, inspiring them to discover and learn about Australian wildlife.

Drinking Water Station

We were delighted to welcome Ryan Park MP to Mount Kembla Public School last week!

A special highlight of his visit was celebrating our new drinking water station—an important addition proudly funded through our Community Building Partnership Program, providing fresh, accessible water for all our students.

My House Rules!

Date: September 2025

The much-anticipated "My House Rules" event at Mount Kembla Public School, where our two houses faced off in a day filled with fun, friendly competition, and team spirit. Students from both Flame and Wattle came together to participate in a series of rotational activities, each designed to test their skills, creativity, and collaboration.

Throughout the day, teams moved between various exciting challenges which encouraged students to think strategically, work as a team, and showcase their individual talents. Each completed challenge earned points for their house, contributing to the overall scoreboard and the race for the glorious title of My House Rules Champion.

The event was a fantastic opportunity for students to build friendships across year groups, develop leadership skills, and celebrate their house pride with enthusiasm and sportsmanship. The energy was electric, with cheers and encouragement echoing across the school grounds.

"My House Rules" is an annual tradition that not only promotes healthy competition but also strengthens our school community.

A huge congratulations to Wattles who take the title this year!

From meeting snakes, lizards and koalas to feeding kangaroos and learning fascinating facts from the park’s friendly guides - it was a day full of fun, discovery, and unforgettable memories. The children’s enthusiasm and curiosity shone throughout the day, making this excursion a truly special experience for everyone.

Mount Kembla Public Schools sends out a big thank you to all the staff who made this adventure possible, and the incredible students who made the day so memorable!
