Community involvement
Our school values strong partnerships with our families and community. Parents and carers can get involved through our Parents and Citizens Association (P&C) or by volunteering at our school. Your time and support help make our school a better place for everyone.
Parents and Citizens Association (P&C)
The Mount Kembla Public School Parents and Citizens (P&C) Association is a passionate and dedicated group of parents, caregivers and community members who work closely with the school to enhance the learning environment and overall experience of our students. We are committed to supporting quality public education and fostering a strong sense of community.
The current positions on the P&C are:
President: Julia Veitch
Vice Presidents: Lesley Keir and Elana Martin
Treasurer: Ben Leffley
Uniform Officer: Adrian Davis
Canteen Coordinator: Ame Rooke-Jones
Our Purpose
The Mount Kembla Public School P&C Association plays a vital role in supporting the school and its students. We exist to:
• Promote the interests of the school by fostering close cooperation between students, parents, teachers, and the broader community.
• Provide additional resources, facilities, and equipment to enhance our children’s learning environment.
• Support the welfare and development of all students through inclusive, community-building activities and events.
• Promote the value and importance of a strong, inclusive public education system.
We also advocate on behalf of students and parents and work with the school on initiatives that benefit the whole school community
Meetings
Our P&C meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 6pm in the school library. Meetings are friendly, inclusive and open to everyone in the school community - whether you’re a parent, grandparent, caregiver or friend of the school. You’re welcome to come along, share ideas or simply listen and stay informed
Get Involved
Joining our P&C is simple: just come to a meeting or email mkpandc.secretary@gmail.comfor a membership form. Annual membership is only $1 and becoming a member allows you to vote on decisions and help shape the direction of our efforts. Your involvement, big or small, makes a difference!
Joining the P&C a great way to meet other families, get involved and contribute to our school's future. We would love to have you on board!
Volunteering and Events
Throughout the year, the P&C organises and supports a range of events, both to raise funds and to bring our community together. These may include:
• Mother’s Day and Father’s Day stalls
• BBQs and sausage sizzles
• Special celebration days
• Discos, raffles and more!
Volunteers are always welcome and both members and non-members of the P&C can volunteer. Whether you can help for an hour at an event, coordinate a fundraising stall, contribute to us financially, run an event, or work behind the scenes…every bit helps. If each family lends a hand once a year, we can achieve amazing things together!
How we fundraised
Funds raised by the P&C go directly back into the school to benefit our students. Projects may include upgrades to facilities, classroom technology, play equipment, learning resources, and support for special programs and initiatives identified in partnership with the school leadership.
